April Young has long been fascinated with the relationship between man and beast and in particular with horses. This sculpture was created by April using old time pieces, firstly a French clock movement, then various Georgian and Victorian clock winding keys both ornate and humble. Making the many pieces fit together, and yet still retain the much loved features of the 'War Horse' was challenging. The effect is a sculpture piece that is strangely both naturalistic and industrial, and both futuristic yet nostalgic.
