Favouring flower and fruit paintings he focuses on the way the light falls and highlights each feature of his subject. He captures the luminosity of each flower and the delicate translucence of the glass vase. Choosing to set the flowers against a plain background with little or no texture only serves to heighten the focus on the flowers themselves. They emerge from a darkened background like jewels.
