in 1790, originally one of a pair - the tower forms a leading light marking safe passage around the southern end of the treacherous Happisburgh Sands.

Sylvia Antonsen has long been fascinated by the British coast, it's shoreline and buildings. This contemporary oil painting of the Happisburgh Lighthouse illustrates this interest. With no sign of human activity the lighthouse looks calm and quiet as if it is ready and waiting until it is needed.

Sylvia Antonsen paints in a precise and clear style emphasising the linear quality of her subject. As in all Antonsen paintings it is this linear quality that accentuates a sense of calm and order.

In addition to Red Rag British Art Gallery Sylvia Antonsen has exhibited at other leading British Art Galleries. Each painting at Red Rag is sourced from the Sylvia Antonsen artist studio and like all Red Rag British art and Contemporary art it can be shipped worldwide.
