Sophie Harding went on to become a freelance illustrator and has had a large variety of work published. 'Eggcup, Elephant and Pear' is a charming and whimsical painting that shows her skill as a graphic artist.

Sophie Harding Harding works from sketches and her imagination and is influenced by the simplicity and charm of Naive art. Her use of simple forms, clear outlines and contrasting colours is reminiscent of the work of Mary Fedden, who was, in turn, influenced by Matisse and Braque. Her use of clear, strong colour to convey the beauty and simplicity of the forms is skilfully captured in this modern art work.
