'Jolly Harbour' is a lively and colourful painting of a small island harbour. The multi-coloured fishing boats are moored and all seems quiet. Lobster pots and bright coloured buoys have been put out to dry on the quay.

Pam Carter is skilled in capturing a sense of place and the emotional impact of a view. Her use of strong sweeping bands and blocks of colour to accentuate light and shade result in a harmonious expression of the Scottish landscape. There is a real sense in the composition of this painting that this is a busy little corner of an otherwise empty and peaceful place.
