was spent on and by the sea and this has influenced the subject content and colour pallet of her paintings. The colours used in 'Trawling' are striking, the red water contrasting with a vast expanse o blue clouded sky.
Talking about her art work Jane Lion says: "Light and weather influence whether my paintings become abstract or representational. I love colour. I paint how I have seen things on the day stretching a small pallet by experimenting with colour tones and values and building with layers of glazes and textured matt surfaces to create depth and contrast."
