'Mirror of Reason' shows a scene of absolute contrasts. The ordered classical knot garden of a country house, symmetrical and apparently at peace, is contrasted with a vast and menacing tidal wave which appears to be about to engulf the scene. What on first viewing is a tranquil scene takes on a disturbing air as ones eye is drawn to the background and the power of the oncoming wave is felt.
